Masters in Social Services, Mental Health Counseling, and/or Marriage and Family Therapy. NO EXCEPTIONS !!!
Bilingual in Spanish a HUGE Plus

Job Description:

Provides culturally-competent short‐term counseling, crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning and psycho-education, including:
Crisis Intervention
Ability to identify need, as well as make referrals, for outpatient/inpatient care and hospital transport
Trauma Triage/Trauma informed assessment
Peer support

Conducting emergency evaluation/assessment for:

Mental health
Substance use/disorder
Occupational needs
Domestic Violence
Advocates on behalf of the family when working with NYC's Administration for Children's Services or other preventative services.
Makes referrals and appropriate linkages.
Communicates and collaborates with service providers to enhance engagement and ensure quality.
Providing education/training to other staff.
Providing social service benefits and other resource information to residents.
Facilitating family meetings (with the family + HERRC staff) to discuss planning efforts and progress
Coordinating with emergency services/hospital social workers/discharges, especially around laboring moms & newborns
Coordinating on domestic violence cases, particularly if a 911 call needs to be made, and providing additional support as needed
