Cedar Park Group is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller/Full Charge Bookkeeper to collect, compile and post employee time and payroll
data, compute payroll wages, commissions, deductions, and payroll taxes, prepare paychecks and issue W-2’s. The ideal candidate will be highly accurate, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking efficiently. This role requires strong accounting skills and proficiency with Timberline accounting software. We value loyalty, integrity! Building construction experience is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Proficiently use Timberline accounting system to enter and compute wages and deductions.
  • Prepare and process payroll and payroll taxes for all personnel across applicable states.
  • Complete, verify, and process forms for benefits administration, including pension plans, disability, worker’s compensation, general liability, and unemployment insurance.
  • Stay informed and proficient with NYS Labor Laws for Public Construction Work (e.g., Prevailing Wage Laws).
  • Compute GMCA labor burden for field employees and provide data to the estimating department for future bids.
  • Verify and track employee work hours using company software and written timesheets.
  • Verify certified payrolls from subcontractors and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Provide information to employees and managers on payroll, tax issues, benefit plans, and agreements.
  • Prepare and balance period-end reports, reconciling payroll to the general ledger.
  • Verifications and payment of weekly payroll taxes, 401K, and legal mandates, garnishments, claims and/or judgements.
  • General Ledger responsibilities (including payroll, insurances, petty cash, equipment schedule).

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Solid employment history.
  • Strong experience in accounting and as a Full Charge Bookkeeper.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with advanced experience in spreadsheets and reports.
  • Timberline accounting software experience (strongly recommended).
  • Discretion and confidentiality are a must.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to different software, with helpful experience in Procore and Docusign.
  • Loyalty, integrity, and building construction experience are essential.
