Cedar Park Group is seeking experienced Water Treatment Plant Operators (C, B, or A License) for openings in the City of Ormond Beach, FL. This role involves performing skilled tasks related to monitoring and operating a water treatment plant under the general supervision of the Chief or Lead Plant Operators.

Shift: 8 or 10hrs shift,

Pay Rates:

  • A License: $24.19 per hour
  • B License: $23.04 per hour
  • C License: $20.90 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors plant operational status via Programmable Logic Controllers and SCADA system and adjusts equipment settings as necessary to promote plant operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for process control of a low-pressure reverse osmosis drinking water plant, and a lime softening drinking water plant.
  • Oversees the operation and backwashing of 6 sand filters.
  • Operates and maintains equipment in a water plant, including inspecting, lubricating and maintaining motors, pumps, screens, gauges and meters.
  • Adjusts chemical feed systems used to treat potable water.
  • Reads flow meters, monitors plants through SCADA, logs readings, takes samples for laboratory analysis and makes necessary adjustments in the treatment process.
  • Operates equipment for de-watering lime sludge and performs preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Inspects and keeps records of chemical vendor deliveries.
  • Maintains daily log during assigned shift.
  • Completes shift sheets and inputs data.
  • Must be available for overtime and emergency call-outs when necessary.
  • Assists in preparation for, response to, and recovery from, the impacts of a wide variety of disasters or emergency situations and may be temporarily assigned to other duties, locations, and shifts.
  • Meets attendance requirements.
  • Promotes positive customer service environment internally and externally.\
  • Performs other job-related functions as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Assist in directing, instructing and training less experienced operators, equipment maintenance technicians, and contractors.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of operational experience in water treatment (additional experience required based on licensure level).
  • Licensing: Must possess a valid Class C, B, or A Water Treatment Plant Operator License issued by the State of Florida.
  • Driver’s License: Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Modern water treatment processes and regulatory standards.
    • Operation of SCADA and automation control systems.
    • Mechanical/electrical functions of plant equipment.
    • Troubleshooting principles for plant operations.
    • Safety hazards and precautions in a water treatment facility.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Use of tools and equipment for plant operations.
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
    • Physical ability to climb stairs, operate large valves, perform manual labor, and monitor plant operations for extended periods under varying weather conditions.

Work Environment:

  • Moderate to high noise levels.
  • Temperature variations ranging from 60-90°F (can drop below freezing during winter mornings/evenings).
  • Exposure to chemical feed systems (Safety Data Sheets available for safe handling procedures).
